Nov. 18

Friday is our field trip to Fort Langley, thank you to all the parents who have volunteered to drive.  We will need all of your help.  Students must dress for any kind of weather, remember to bring booster seats and have their snack in their pocket.  We will still be having Family Reading as we don't leave until 9:15.  (Parents who are driving please arrive at 9:10).

If you have not signed up for the Kathleen Hatley Health Talk presentation on Friday, Nov. 27th please do so as soon as possible.  Mrs. Watkins sent out a message on the parent portal so if you want your child to attend you need to sign up.

For the Christmas concert "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas" which is now just around the corner, Div. 6 and 7 will be 'whos' from Whoville.  They are to wear pajamas and if wanted they could do something special with their hair.

I have added Fairview's Library blog to our front page so that you can also easily check that.

All students did an amazing job of their Christmas card, these were sent home on Monday.  Please send any orders in by Thursday, Nov. 26th.

***Please sign up for conferences on Dec. 10 and 11th.  All conferences will be 30 minutes long, the first 15 minutes is with your child and the last 15 minutes is with both your child and myself.   Just let me know if these times work for you and I can try to make alternate times.

Friday the 13!

Despite the fact it is Friday the 13th - hopefully you all have a great day!

I was so proud of Div. 7 as they did an awesome job at the Remembrance Day assembly.

Canada  - at one of our Reader's Workshop students were learning all the provinces and territories plus their capital cities.  If you could discuss this at home it would reinforce their learning. We are now looking closer at each province to find out the things that make it unique.

Next Friday is our field trip to Fort Langley.  It looks like we will have enough drivers - thanks so much to everyone for volunteering.  If you have not already signed up for the field trip or paid please do so asap.  Thanks   Just a reminder to everyone we will be going rain or shine so please dress for the weather, with a recess snack in your pocket.  Also all students will need to bring in their booster seats that morning.   Thanks.

Hopefully everyone is reading their Just Right Reading, please remember to bring these book bags to school daily.

Nov.5th

On Monday your child received their Just Right Reading back with 4/5 books and a letter explaining this program.  Your child has the choice of just a different classroom book or one from their JRR each day. These books should be brought to school each day.

Tuesday afternoon we had a great musical presentation by Hoja.

Our Great Canadian presentations  have been excellent and it is so nice to get to know more about our friends.  It has also been great to meet all the special pets that have visited!

We are now back into our Canada unit and the students are busy learning the different provinces/territories, capital cities and where they are located.  We will be looking at each province and territory in more detail as we take a 'trip' across Canada.

Please sign up on the portal for our field trip to Fort Langley on Friday, Nov. 20th.

We have new Reader's Workshop and exploration stations.  They are busy constructing all different things (even coffins!) and classifying Canadian animals and then creating their habitats.

Nov. 3rd

A huge thank you to Marco and Mason's mom who took groups out this morning to make pumpkin cookies!  Marco's mom even supplied all the ingredients and supplies!  It was a great follow up after Charlotte and Ashton presented their Pumpkin book.

Scholastic is due tomorrow if you are interested.
