January 15th

Couple of Reminders...
***Bottle drive on Saturday   Please support our PAC by supplying bottles or helping out with the drive from 8-1 on Saturday (if available please come to the school).
***No school on Monday, Jan. 18th

Div. 7 seems to really enjoying our owl unit and I can't believe how much they have already learned.  In Reader's Workshop we gave started a couple new literacy stations where they have to write and read the room (all owl facts) and do a crossword puzzle also with lots of interesting information.

We are reading the book 'A place For Owls' a true story that takes place in a owl rehabilation centre in Ontario.  The students are loving this book and can't wait to hear the next adventures of the owls!

We are very lucky to have a free field trip to Alice in Wonderland on Tuesday, Feb. 9th.  Please sign up on the portal and if you are able to drive please see me or write a note in the planner.  Thank you in advance for your continued support.

Jan. 11th

Our Owl presentation was fantastic!  Ask your child about what they learned.  Nature is so amazing and Jenn taught us so many interesting ways animals and birds adapt in their environment.  Owls do not turn their head all away the way around but instead about 270 degrees.   Below are some photos...
This diagram showed us how owls eyes are very large and set back in their skulls.

Jenn showed us the difference in sounds an eagle feather makes compared to an owl.
This is "Flinger" she was an 18 year old Mexican hawk.
We were so excited to meet this 4 year old Barn Owl named Alba!

If you have not sent in the $5.00 please do so ASAP.  Thank you.

Happy New Year! January 8th

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season!  On Thursday I sent home a notice to send in $5.00 for our special owl presentation on Monday.  The cost of this may end up being less but we are also hoping to dissect owl pellets so please send in the $5.00 and if it is less we will reduce the next field trip accordingly. Speaking of field trip on April 14th at 12:30 we will be going to The Act to see Peter Pan.

All students got new Just Right Reading books on Wednesday.  I always try to include a variety of books including both fiction and non-fiction so hopefully your child is enjoying their new books.

Monday and Tuesday of next week are treat days bring your loonies for Kernals popcorn, Lay's chips or Cheetos.

Your children have all made three resolutions for 2016 and not only have they made the goals they have thought of three ways they can reach them.  Ask them about them!
